[excerpt from the book "YAHUDEEJAY - trampled dreams"]
In May 1989, I flew from New York to Los Angeles at the invitation of a friend named Denis White and moved into the address - 540 S. Coronado Street / Wishire district, close to the famous and legendary movie stars district of '40 and '50 called 'Silverlake' and Rampart (what was total Latino drugs crime district in '89). Jimmy lived next door. It was a nice, flowery condominium from the '20s, in which there was even one resident from the old days. It was a former Hollywood film industry screenwriter - Robert. He was probably over 80. We lived in this charming corner in a not-so-charming neighborhood that had changed radically since the '40s or even '60s due to the influx of Latino immigrants - and for much worse. We felt it through frequent, nearby shootings and loud sirens, the result of police raids on the surrounding streets (especially at night).

After a few months, Denis returned to Seattle, where he came from, and I moved into a large apartment with Jimmy. We split the expensive rent in half and somehow it went. Jimmy delivered delicious food from the Hollywood restaurant Luise's Tratoria, and I worked in distant Glendale at Novotny's Refinishing - repairing everything that was once made of wood. I described it in more detail in my book "YAHUDEEJAY - trampled dreams".
At that time, we were a bunch of youngsters fascinated by LA / Hollywood, etc. We dreamed of AMERICA regardless of whether someone lived in Poland or Spain. And all this mainly because of the influence that American movies, music, and partly also fashion and lifestyle had on us.
After years, these fascinations passed, replaced by the Real of life. Each of us returned to our homeland and built a further life there.

Jose Bruno - became one of the best drummers in Spain.
ME - after ending (after over 40 years) my career as a disco deejay I became a writer. I'm 72 now (2024) and have written 8 books + 75 blogs containing about over 3000 different texts.
We live, we act and sometimes only from the recesses of memory we extract delightful memories when good fortune allowed us to live and get to know Hollywood up close …
